I am a storyteller and a poet.

I use words and thread, pencil and needle, paper and fabric.

my work is an ongoing conversation with myself.

words from my journal

just look at you, yes YOU, sending your eyes out in flocks of rebellious, small choices, searching for the thing that makes you breathe hope.

you are always doing this.

you are always painting new names all over your life.

just look at you!

Good morning,I hope this finds you well!Every year, the Sanctuary brings together four contemporary contemplatives from a range of traditions who will share their own wisdom and experience of embracing darkness, as we wait for the arrival of brighter days. We would be delighted if you joined our memorable series this year! The Sanctuary will be hosting our annual month-long online Winter reflection that coincides with the four themes of Adventwhich we call, Waiting for the Light. On the 4 Saturday mornings before Christmas, we will explore the benefits of slowing down, letting go and resting as we prepare for the return of light.Already confirmed is poet and theologian Padraig O’ Tuama (December 5th) and poet and Franciscan Priest-Friar Brother Richard Hendrick (December 19th). Would you be available

Sending love from across the pond. Always enjoy sitting with your words, whether here or on FB.

I’ve been drawn to poetry again. It happens from time to time. lol!

Now, I want to increase my poetic vocabulary. I’m curious, who are some of your favorite poets? I think I learn best by immersing myself in the writing.

    Big hugs and every blessing,

    Gretchen

Oh, I have so many favourites, however, I love Wendell Berry for his farmer’s voice, Mary Oliver for guiding my eye deeper into beauty, Eavan Boland, William Stafford, Sharon Olds, Pablo Neruda, Leonard Cohen, the Persian poet Hafiz, Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, among others… So many!
