there are things
too mysterious for me to understand, though i try
to parse them, finding a way to let go of the siftings
and what i mean to say is that there are things that shatter the heart, that noose the feathered bird that sometimes sings of hope, but often weeps in disbelief
how they live side-by-side with peace, i do not know
there’s no use pretending, some of us are out here, limping our way home, dragging all our questions, hoping just to make it back in time for the feast, hoping that we’ll still be wearing the right outfit when we come crashing through that holy door.
