I am a storyteller and a poet.

if you have never met a blue himalyan poppy, allow me to introduce you to this beauty, living so very peacably alongside a clump of ferns, tucked away in a damp corner of our garden.

her fancy name, given to her by scientists and other clever people is ‘meconopsis nelsonii’, but she much prefers, ‘hello-you-gorgeous-girl-just-look-at-you!’, when God and i do our early morning rounds of the gardens.

how we are all given a name by others and still our soft hearts prefer adjectives that speak tenderly to what we are—words that offer a lifeline to whom we might become.
