I wanted to start this post off with a triumphant ‘Tadah!’ but instead I shall simply say, here she is.

Inside of me there is a little girl who found an escape in stories; who loved creating her own worlds in that rich place behind her eyes.

She still gets lost in books. In the end there was a lot to escape from, but of course she is not alone in this.

We all escape something, sometime.

The Velveting Bones is my third collection of poems and I am wrapping my head around actually saying that out loud!

This book is different in a few ways:

The cover is glossy and not matt.
The font is a wee bit bigger (11 pt as opposed to 10 pt) and it reads so much easier. The book is slightly bigger, in fact the paperback and hardcover are now the same size.

There are poems and prose poems and longer prose pieces that were born from some of my freeform pieces that I have shared here.

Whilst I write with no intention of approval from anyone other than that little girl inside of me, it is my hope that these poems will find their way into your life and cause you to pause for a little while. I hope you feel seen. I hope that you will know that you are loved.
