I am a storyteller and a poet.

I use words and thread, pencil and needle, paper and fabric.

my work is an ongoing conversation with myself.

held: a small word anchored in a scaffolding of thread

a day will come, arriving on quiet feet, where i will close my eyes in one room and open them in another, my fearful heart finally being able to see how i was always, always, always held, and all my faith-words, my brazen night-prayers, always dressed up for work, even when i was almost certain they would get lost, eventually having found their way home, having done all the work i asked them to do, smelling like heaven, and the breast-feathers of God.

this is the back of a piece that i have recently finished stitching.

this small word anchored in the scaffolding of thread.

sometimes we think none of it makes sense, but either none of it does, or all of it does.

either way, the work of a life lies in learning how to let go and learning how to be held.
