Stories of Light and Grace always end well

a scarred beauty, face to the light, from the depths of Long Loch, Cove, Scotland

did you think
you would make it out alive without any scars
without paying a price
for trusting
for loving
for believing
still, here you are
safe, for this moment
and held
still breathing
—face turned towards
the Light.

‘…it’s not the presence of the scar, but how you speak to it; how you care for it, that tells your story of Light and grace…’

  1. Hi Liezel

I have loved your poems from the first moment I read them. Especially your references to your South African roots. I live in the Keurboomstrand Village, close to Plettenberg Bay.

Your writing reminds me so much of my childhood and how kind and generous my ouma was with her love. At this time in my life I reflect often on the past and your poems seem to speak directly to me.

    Thank you for that.

    Warmest regards Bea

    • Dear Bea, thank you so much for your lovely words! Plettenberg Bay is so beautiful. I have a particular love for that area. And I am so glad that my writings about my Ouma resonate with you. Mine was a special person, as I am sure yours was. Sending you love! x
