World Book Day 2022

The Society of Authors, here in the UK, have a lovely social media initiative for #WorldBookDay2022, called #BehindEveryBook, showing you the faces of the authors behind your favourite books.

If you don’t know me yet, my name is Liezel (as in The Sound of Music), I live in Scotland, and I am completely besotted with words and books, a good cup of tea, and getting lost in the woods—something I seem to have a knack for…getting lost, that is, although I do make good tea!

I have published two full collections of poetry, my first—Stripped, and my second collection—A Counting of Love, and I publish under my own imprint, Quiet Rebel Press.

I am currently working on my third book, which will be a collection of poems and prose poems. All going well publication will be in June or July and I am already deeply in love with the bones of this book, and I can’t wait to send her into the world!

It is surprisingly difficult to take a photo of yourself holding several books, whilst ensuring you and the books are visible, and still looking like you are an accomplished, professional author holding it all together.

Here is my offering instead 😉

  1. Thank you Liezel, my guiding light! It was yesterday, my husband and I attended the International Book Fair in Los Angeles, where my husband was signing his books, on poetry of Hafiz, Rumi, and the Great Eastern Oracles.  Among thousands booths, and almost million people attending, I was not able to find the booth that represented your books, as I wanted to purchase them.  I appreciate your picture, behind your book, but I have discovered you and your words two years ago; since then I am passing on your messages through my work as a psychologist, specializing in Creative Expressive Therapy, which focuses on healing aspects of artistic expressions.  You are a master of this healing words, and I have been reading and processing your writings during my groups and individual sessions, always quoting your name as the source.  I have been a devoted student, translator and admirer of Rumi, Hafiz and many other mystics.Thank you for being a shinning light on word expressions!Thank you Liezel for the truth of your being!Thank you for sharing yourself with the world.Admiringly,Gitty Rassouli, PsyD/ATR

    • Dear Gitty, oh your words are such a gift to me today! Thank you! I would love to hear more about how your use my poems – please feel free to send me an e-mail and to let me know. I feel deeply honoured! I too, love Rumi and Hafiz! Also, let me know the book that your husband has authored. I would love to add it to my collection.
